Remember when flying was glamorous, sexy and fun? The Wetumpka Depot Players upcoming production of Boeing Boeing, Marc Camoletti’s delightful, smooth landing of a farce will jet audiences back to the retro days of ‘coffee, tea or me’! “Boeing Boeing is the perfect closure to this winter’s polar vertex,” said Kristy Meanor, Depot executive director. “This is one of the funniest plays I have read and I am sure it will be one of the funniest evenings patrons will ever spend at the Depot. We want audiences to fasten their seat belts and laugh all the way home.” It’s the 1960s, and swinging bachelor Bernard couldn’t be happier: a flat in Paris and three gorgeous stewardesses all engaged to him without knowing about each other. But Bernard’s perfect life gets bumpy when his friend Robert comes to stay and a new and speedier Boeing jet throws off all of his careful planning. Soon all three stewardesses are in town simultaneously and catastrophe looms. “Boeing Boeing is a riotous farce that recently enjoyed hit revivals in London and New York,”says director Ed Drozdowski. “Now set to produce here in the River Region we are having a blast working on the piece. After last season’s Noises Off, we have mastered the slamming door element to farce for sure.” Show dates are April 24-26, May 1-3, 9,10 at 7:30pm and May 4 at 2pm. Tickets are just $10 in advance and $12 at the door and online. Tickets may be reserved by calling the Depot at 334-868-1440 or by visiting the theatre’s website at www.wetumpkadepot.com. The Depot Theatre is located at 300 S Main St in historic downtown Wetumpka.

The musical journey in The Fantasticks is orchestrated by two characters. El Gallo and The Mute are wonderful characters that lend mystery, comedy and everything in between to the story. El Gallo (Jimmy Veazey) has performed in numerous past Depot productions including GI Juke Box, Big River, All Shook Up and Joseph. Jimmy serves as a church music minister and is husband to Depot actress, Cindy Veazey. Jeff Langham serves as Elmore County Board of Education Superintendent by day and Depot board member, actor and volunteer by night. He also makes the Depot a family affair working along side his wife Ginny at the ticket desk and acting with daughter Weldon in productions. Most recently Jeff was in The Christmas Bus , All Shook Up and Big River.

Confetti is floating around the Depot Theatre once again as the magic of The Fantasticks is revisited once again in prep for Southeastern Theatre Conference. Today's cast member spotlights are the actors who play the two fathers in the show. If you have ever experienced parenting stubborn teenagers you will appreciate that the fathers use a little reverse psychology to get their children to follow their plans! You have to see the show to see how their plans backfire! Lee Bridges (Hucklebee) has performed in more than 100 productions at several theatres across the tri-county area. Among his favorite as Cornelius Hackl in Hello, Dolly!, Will Parker in Oklahoma!, Albert Peterson in Bye Bye Birdie and Doody in Grease. Depot audiences will remember his recent work in Noises Off and Blithe Spirit. Tom Salter (Bellemy) calls the Depot his second home. He has directed several shows including the award winning Second Samuel and is looking forward to his upcoming project, Boeing Boeing. He says he's a techie at heart and has designed lights for most of the Depot productions for the last four years.
