Remember when flying was glamorous, sexy and fun? The Wetumpka Depot Players upcoming production of Boeing Boeing, Marc Camoletti’s delightful, smooth landing of a farce will jet audiences back to the retro days of ‘coffee, tea or me’! “Boeing Boeing is the perfect closure to this winter’s polar vertex,” said Kristy Meanor, Depot executive director. “This is one of the funniest plays I have read and I am sure it will be one of the funniest evenings patrons will ever spend at the Depot. We want audiences to fasten their seat belts and laugh all the way home.” It’s the 1960s, and swinging bachelor Bernard couldn’t be happier: a flat in Paris and three gorgeous stewardesses all engaged to him without knowing about each other. But Bernard’s perfect life gets bumpy when his friend Robert comes to stay and a new and speedier Boeing jet throws off all of his careful planning. Soon all three stewardesses are in town simultaneously and catastrophe looms. “Boeing Boeing is a riotous farce that recently enjoyed hit revivals in London and New York,”says director Ed Drozdowski. “Now set to produce here in the River Region we are having a blast working on the piece. After last season’s Noises Off, we have mastered the slamming door element to farce for sure.” Show dates are April 24-26, May 1-3, 9,10 at 7:30pm and May 4 at 2pm. Tickets are just $10 in advance and $12 at the door and online. Tickets may be reserved by calling the Depot at 334-868-1440 or by visiting the theatre’s website at www.wetumpkadepot.com. The Depot Theatre is located at 300 S Main St in historic downtown Wetumpka.
